Our bodies are receptive to the senses of the outside world and are able to respond and adapt. The ear is one component of the external sensory body that receives such hearing.
If we lose hearing it will be a huge threat to our lives. So how to protect our ears? Let’s see what to do. You already know some of these. But it also contains important information about the ear you never knew.
1. Reduce volume
This is about listening to songs and watching movies using headphones. According to the World Health Organization, more than one billion young people around the world are at risk of hearing impairment due to using earphones for hearing. This problem occurs due to time and the volume. If it is louder the sound, harm is higher. It is okay to maintain volume to 60 decibles. But if you are increasing it upto 85 it is not good. Damage occurs when inner hair cells are exposed to loud sounds. Have you ever experienced after leaving a louder party ear vibrating? It is a sign of ear damage. Some of them can be temporary, some of them are permanent.
2. Using cotton buds
It’s not okay to put cotton buds or anything in the ear. Even if something goes wrong, the best thing to do is to seek the help of a qualified doctor. If a little insect goes, you can put some oil in it and let it die. Ear wax does not need to be completely removed. This wax condition in the ear must be natural. Due to the waxy nature of the ear, dust and external matter are reduced to the ear. If this wax is present in the ear, and the ear is not being heard, you should show a doctor and ask for an oil to soften this thick wax. Cotton buds are meant to be applied to the ear, but now find that the wax can be tightened at eardrum and cause less hearing.
It is not good to hear loud noises for a long time. So when you attend a party, concert, DJ, sport event you have to pay attention to this fact. It is good if you can take a break in every 15 minutes avoiding sounds. Or else you can move to another place for a few minutes and relax to your ears. Also you can use earplugs to prevent such noises. Not only at parties, there are some factories that are noisy. If your working environment is the same like that it is good to use earplugs. Experts say that a person who has spent the night in a noisy environment needs to rest for 16 hours to recover. Even when you listen to music using headphones, allow the 60-60 method. That means listen to music in 60% sound for 60 minutes. Then keep your ears relaxed.
4. Keep ear dry
Swimming, diving and bathing are more likely to cause ear infections. Because when water enters the outer ear, bacteria in the ear begin to form. So after having a bath it is good to turn your head and shake your head until water is removed. Then wipe your ear externally by using a soft towel. If you are a frequent swimmer, it is best to use an earplug while swimming.
5. Reduce stress
Stress is not good for everything. If you are a person who is frequently worrying about problems, you should first think about your health. This stress not only affects your health but also your ear. When we are under great stress, our body prepares for it. When we are stressed, there is an increase in blood flow, an increase in body temperature, and changes in the ear. When you get stressed the overproduction of adrenaline reduces the blood flow to the ear, so it causes lost hearing. Ear cells are damaged because of not having constant blood flow. So it is good for the ear to be kept in mind without stress.
6. Do exercises
With the rise of high blood pressure and non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes, people are now able to exercise as much as possible. It’s obviously a good thing. People who just repeat the same circle from bed to car, from car to office and back again are getting sick. Exercise helps to keep the blood flowing to the ears. Research also shows that people who exercise have fewer ear problems.
7. Show to a qualified doctor
The ear is a sensitive thing. The ear connects directly to the brain. There are also parts of the ear that are important for balance. It’s such a sensitive organ. So we should protect our ears. When you have an ear problem don’t do treatments that normal people say. If you have a problem with the ear, you should show it to a qualified doctor. If you are not having hearing loss, it is good to show a doctor every 10 years until age 50. After that every 3 years you should see a doctor.
